We are excited to announce a new pro shop staff member has joined our team. Her name is Melanie Foster, she is a full member at Yarra Yarra Golf Club. Her current GA handicap is 3. Melanie brings new ideas, attention to detail and a willingness to learn to her new role as assistant professional. Please make her feel welcome next time you visit the club.

We will be trialing new tee box set ups for Public Holidays and other significantly busy mid-week public guest days by having a white tee box available (only) for all public guests and white tee competitions for Members. Members will be able to play from approximate blue tee box areas as long as they report it to pro shop staff prior to commencing their round but will not be in a competition. This will hopefully maintain acceptable round times and increase enjoyment in very busy periods of play. When there is a significant members’ board event scheduled on a public holiday, blue tees will be set up as necessary and public guests will still only be able to play from white tees.

Golf for ladies only will be moving back to Tuesday mornings with results for ladies only being completed by pro shop staff for presentations after play.

Wednesday competitions moving forward will be an inclusive members comp. All eligible members will be able to enter with men to generally play from blue tees and women to play from red tees, unless a member chooses to play from white tees and notifies pro shop staff prior to commencing play. On Wednesdays which have a “men only” comp, we will have a separate competitions to cater for ladies, 3 entries is the minimum ladies required for a competition prize payout. Public access will be granted after the morning and afternoon fields from both tees once members have teed off.

The above changes will officially take effect from 1st January 2024.

As we round out the year, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you all for making me feel so welcome and valued in my first year as Director of Golf. In 2024, I will continue to serve the entire membership to the best of my ability.

Also, help me wish my Assistant Professional Nicholas Clarke all the best on his European adventure with his new fiancée Erin, safe travels. We look forward to seeing him back in action mid-January.
